New Gear

Ryan's gait trainer came in! It's called a Gator. Basically, we strap him in, get him in the correct position and help him learn how to walk. He needs to keep his hands on the handle bars and his feet in a good position, which is taking some getting used to. He likes to lean forward on the chest strap so that he's not actually bearing all of his own weight. Leaning forward will not help him learn how to walk.

This contraption is new, so it will take him time to get comfortable with it and learn how to use it. I really hope that he begins to understand that it will make him mobile. I know he likes being on eye level with his brothers, but keeping up with them would delight him to no end!

Stokes and William love it. They love it because they can climb on it. And push it. And move it. And play with it in general. And no, we don't let them do all of those things when Ryan is in it!

We've been instructed to put him in the gator a few times each day, at least for 10 - 15 minutes. We literally just got it on Monday during PT and haven't had much formal instruction on it, so I was looking forward to our PT appointment today to get some more training and ask a few questions.

Checking it out with Scott and Ashley on Monday

I think he likes it!
