First day of school 2018

Monday, August 20th was the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL for this school year.

We had a decision to make ahead of this school year - to put them in public school kindergarten or hold off for a year? Well for us, that was almost a no-brainer. The boys's birthday is essentially SIX DAYS away from the cut-off for the school year. Add that to the fact that they were supposed to be born in November and should be in the following grade anyways, and our decision was made. There are other factors that play into it - they're small for their age and in comparison to their peers, they have some tendencies towards preemie challenges (re: ADHD or ADD), and I did not see a downside at all towards holding them back a year. So I hope and pray that we made the right decision!

Stokes and William actually ARE in a 5K program that is a kindergarten curriculum, but it's at their private preschool. They're getting a taste of what kindergarten is like and then they will repeat it again next year at public school. Or, since this program is accredited, they could actually move up to first grade next year if they are really just excelling....that is a VERY, VERY small possibility - I am a realist. ;)

Ryan is back at his special needs school this year and will be doing after-school at the same preschool with his brothers again this year as well. His teacher from last year is one of the TAs in his class this year, which I like! Having some consistency and someone that knows him from last year makes me feel better. He gets to keep all the same therapists too.

I took the obligatory First Day of School pictures out on the front porch that morning!

Bye bye, big boy!

See you after school!

Cue the tears:
I had to bring their naptime blankets home from
school. The 5K class no longer naps! :(
