Adventures at the Greekville Zoo

No, the post title isn't a typo - last weekend Greenville became Greekville! It was the annual Greek Festival here. And as the title suggests, we may have had a little zoo adventure as well. Such a fun weekend. Let's dive in!

So Friday the 15th, Thomas and I celebrated our anniversary (check out this post documenting our day of fun), then on Saturday morning, Joey, Lisa and Davis drove down from Tazewell for a visit. Joey is Thomas's oldest friend - these two have been thick as thieves since they were itty bitty. Lisa is the sweetest girl and Davis was born 2 week before our boys were. They've played together once before (remember this?) Our families mesh well together. We're actually going to the beach all together for a week later this summer, stay tuned for that...you know I will post some a lot about it. It's bound to be a great time!

Anyway, once Joey, Lisa and Davis got here, we headed downtown along with MaSha for the annual Greek festival. I've always heard good things about it but had never been before. Anna, a co-worker of Thomas's, is very involved with the Greek community here and was instrumental in helping us decide that we needed to come and check it out. Being that it was our first time coming to the festival and that we had about a million little kids in tow, she graciously met us right near the entry and walked us around, helped us with the kids, gave us some Greek history, recommended food choices and then sat with us and entertained kids and fed Ryan while we ate. She's so sweet. The Greek festival was tons of fun and the food was great! We didn't end up staying all that long, but we loved it and I'm sure we'll go back!

After the Greek festival, we loaded everyone back up and went home to put the kids down for a nap. MaSha watched the boys for us while Joey, Lisa, Davis, Thomas and I went to a baby shower for Clark and Stephanie (more details on that here!). The shower was adorable and we all had a great time. Saturday evening was pretty chill - we just hung out by the fire and went to bed pretty early. I think it's safe to say that we were all pretty much whooped from a big day of fun. Kudos to Davis for doing so well at the festival and then turning around and going straight to the baby shower. He was such a trooper. We would have had melt-down city if we had tried to do that!

Sunday morning, we got up and let the boys play together for a little while before we went to the early service at church. We want these guys to get to know each other really well and have fun growing up together whenever we get the opportunity to visit.

Guess what...Davis has a Clemson  hat, too! It was so cute seeing them all play with and wear their hats!

Joey, Lisa and Davis hit the road to head back to Virginia while we went to church. Straight after the service let out, we headed downtown to meet some friends and go to the zoo. This was our very first zoo trip with the triplets!

We got there a little early and went to the playground right near the zoo to let them run around for a minute. I knew that we would keep them in their choo choo train pretty much the whole time at the zoo and felt like we needed to let them get some energy out!

All 4 of my boys headed toward the playground

They were having so much fun running around and
checking everything out!
Right after we got there, our friends showed up! Bonnie, Brian and Grant met us there and it was so great to see them! You may remember that Bonnie and I were both on bedrest at the hospital around the same time and Grant was in the NICU at the same time as my boys. Bonnie and I got a chance to bond then and have stayed in touch. We've only seen each other a couple of times since all our boys got out of the hospital and this visit was overdue! I'm hoping we didn't scare them away too much and that they'll be willing to hang out with us some more!

Sweet Grant!

We only played at the playground for a little while before we decided to hit up the main event - the Greenville Zoo!

Bonnie, me and the boys
After we finished walking around the zoo and making friends with all the animals, we all went to McAlisters to eat lunch. I did not get a picture there. That would have been a funny one though. As per usual, it was a little stressful trying to make sure no one was dumping food or drinks over, trying to feed 3 mouths all at the same time while eating our own food, and trying to maintain some semblance of conversation. At any given time, we were maybe doing 2 out of the 4 things. At least Bonnie and Brian understand since Grant is the same age as the boys!

That was a fun-filled weekend - our anniversary celebration, visitors from Tazewell, a Greek festival, a baby shower, church, a trip to the zoo, and eating lunch out. We normally take on maybe 1 activity a weekend (weak, I know, but hey...we have to try to stay sane!) so this was quite an adventure. We had a great time, the boys were fairly well behaved and we got to catch up with some old and dear friends. Stay tuned for our Memorial Weekend adventures recap!
