Alrighty, I took a month off from the blog and it's well past time to hop back on the blogging wagon. So where I left off is that Thomas and I participated in a fun event entitled Stupid Man Games. Just as the name suggests, it is literally a night of stupid games....and SO FUN. Their tagline for this event is: You don't have to be a man to play, but low intelligence helps. LOL
But let me back up a minute to explain what it is and why we participated. Stupid Man Games is a fundraiser and it's hosted by our friends, Carly and Jim, and some of their close friends. Carly and Jim are also triplet boy parents (I have posted about them before!) and also have a son with special needs. They typically fund raise for the March of Dimes but this year decided to have a different recipient,
Upstate SC AMBUCS. This is a group that provides"fun and therapeutic adapted tricycles to children and veterans with disabilities in Upstate SC" - that's a direct quote from their Facebook page. This is the same group that we got Ryan's bike from at Christmas and Carly was the person who told me about it and originally introduced me to the idea. It's truly such a fantastic organization and I was so excited when Carly told me that she wanted to fund raise on their behalf this year. Thomas and I couldn't turn down the opportunity to support our friends and the AMBUCS group. So we signed up to participate!
The event was held at a neighborhood clubhouse in Laurens, so it was a ways out from where we live, but it was a nice and easy drive and a beautiful day. We got there not really knowing anyone, except Carly and Jim, since this was our first year to participate and most of the other people I think had done the Stupid Man Games in prior years. That said, we never once felt out of place or awkward. Everyone there was beyond friendly and inviting. We met tons of new people who immediately made us feel so welcome!

We enjoyed a superb dinner of pulled pork BBQ and sides as well as low country boil (and BYOB ;) and then it was time for the games to begin. The emcee for the evening was one of the hosts of the event, Chad, and he was hysterical! He had us in stitches before the games even began.
I can't even describe the games - they were all so stupid and so fun! The games are made up of 2 people teams and we took turns completing each game or contest and got points based off our finish time/achievement/whatever made sense for each game. The teams with the highest points at the end got to participate in a play-off until a winner was crowned. Sadly enough, we didn't make the playoffs this year, but had a complete BLAST! Apparently the games change each and every year so we can't even practice for next year's event. And we definitely decided before we left that we would be back next year. It was too entertaining and awesome and also supports such a wonderful and deserving cause.
On the night of this year's Stupid Man Games, Chad announced that they had raised enough money between donations, t-shirt purchases and games entry fees to buy new bikes for several special needs kids and disabled veterans. That is a really awesome feeling. If you like to have fun and like to help support worthy causes and want to come with us next year, do not hesitate to let me know! We'd love to have even more people there to help our Carly and Jim and the AMBUCS group.

Yes, this was the same night as the
Royal Wedding, then Royal Wedding Brunch, then the
last tee-ball game and the season ending party, then a babysitter came so we could drive out to Laurens. It was a really full day but all was good and it was worth it to be exhausted by the end of the day!!!!
