Three Peerys in a Pod: Evacuees!

Hurricane Matthew made a visit to the East Coast over the weekend. We have family in Jacksonville and in Charleston and were worried about their safety and well-being ahead of the projected storm. Now that the hurricane has passed, I can report that everyone was OK and no major damage to either house. Our governor in South Carolina was calling for evacuations starting mid-week last week and while there was some delay while trying to make decisions, in the end, we were the lucky recipients of some fun and cute evacuees!

Matt, Tara, Leece, Madison and Madras made it safely to Greenville on Friday afternoon and spent the weekend with us. Although it was technically due to an evacuation, it felt like it was just a fall get together for the cousins and for some quality family time, except that we had the weather channel on more than normal!

Friday was kind of rainy and yucky so we just hung out around the house and MaSha brought dinner over for all of us. We let the boys watch some of the Clemson/Boston College football game before we put them to bed and watched the remainder of that blow out game - GO TIGERS! Saturday we watched college football and went to a fall festival (blog post on the festival is coming soon!). Then on Sunday we went to church and watched the Georgia/South Carolina game and played around in the backyard. We even had a fire and some s'mores for dessert!!!

It was a fun weekend and the boys were already asking where their cousins were this morning when they woke up. They get so attached after spending a few days together and it's so sweet. I'm thankful and relieved that Tara and Matt decided to get out of harm's way and spend the weekend with us and so appreciative that they can return to an undamaged house. My prayers are with those that got killed, hurt or experienced property damage due to the storm.
