Saturday marked the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby. Derby Day is the day that Thomas and I turn in to horse racing fans. We will also like it on Preakness and Belmont racing days. Other than those days, we have no idea about any horse's or jockey's names or anything going on in the sport. But on those special days, we are all about it!!!!
The morning started out with a trip to the local train for a quick ride and then some time on the playground for the boys. This is such an inexpensive and convenient way to spend the morning for us and the boys have so much fun and get to expend some energy!

After naps, it was time to do some yard work. The boys got their own lawnmowers from their Nana for Christmas and have been "helping" Dada in the yard this spring.

Later that afternoon, it was Derby time! In honor of the role that fashion plays at the Kentucky Derby, I thought it was important for the boys to dress up, hence the seersucker bow ties! They really liked their bow ties and thought it was fun to get to wear them. We tried to talk to them about the horse race and wanted them to watch some of the smaller races during the pre-show coverage, but they weren't all that interested. We held off as long as we could trying to get them to watch the actual race, but it was dinner time and we gave up so the boys were eating dinner when the actual race happened. Thomas and I got to watch it though!

Nyquist won the Kentucky Derby and we will be cheering him on to win the Triple Crown, just like
American Pharoah did last year.
Attempts to get a picture of boys with the Kentucky Derby pre-show on in the background (and this is only a sampling of the many, many pictures I took!):
Loving these handsome boys in their bow ties! Perfect Southern boys!!!
